Often referred to as “the city built by gentlemen for gentlemen”, the capital of Malta offers both culture and relaxation. The short walk will bring you first to the “Upper Barakka” gardens with wonderful panoramic views over the grand harbour and across to the 3 cities of “Senglea, Vittoriosa and Kalkara”. Then, the tour continues with a visit to the splendorous St. John’s Cathedral. After free time for lunch the tour continues with a visit to the famous Mosta Basilica which is the 3rd largest in Europe and one of the main highlights of Malta. During World War II, the church miraculously managed to survive a bomb hit. The next visit will be “Ta Qali” Crafts Village where you can shop for local wares like lace, gold, silver and glassware. The tour continues with a visit to the medieval town of “Mdina” and the cathedral of St. Paul. A walk through the narrow alleys and shaded lanes will give you a perfect idea of why Mdina is referred to as the “Silent City”. Enjoy some free time in Mdina for a snack or coffee break before returning to the hotel.
